My Sustainable World - a new international conference and exhibition in Leipzig
In Leipzig, international experts on business, science, politics and administration demonstrate how modern Greenstyle enhances the quality of life and boosts markets.
The first edition of the international conference and exhibition My Sustainable World, to be held September 23 - 24, 2010 at the Congress Center Leipzig of Leipzig Trade Fair, will show how projects for a sustainable future are already at work in everyday life. For the first time, the areas of Living, Energy, and Mobility will be contextualised on a common platform.
Passive houses do without fossil fuels for heating and air-conditioning, they are carbon neutral, and on top of all that, they look good. Learning devices and intelligent electric meters are eco-friendly and save money. A ride in an electric car gives you a comfortable lift and a pure conscience. Sophisticated traffic concepts rely on sharing instead of owning, they enable us to do without owning costly private vehicles. The personal small power station produces regenerative electricity. In the future, the electric car or the fridge will even store energy in a smart decentralised power network.
„With the areas of Housing, Living and Working, Energy, Mobility and Logistics, My Sustainable World in Leipzig is the first event to internationally unite the essential spheres of action for sustainable concepts.", explains Klaus Scherer, Managing Director of SCHERER WERBUNG GmbH, Stuttgart, and organiser of My Sustainable World. „This responds to an urgent need. The appeals made by politicians and the calculations of climate researchers alone won't carry us across the threshold to an eco-friendly age. This requires - and that is the central idea behind My Sustainable World - a climate change from bottom to top. Entrepreneurs and consumers must have an opportunity to experience all that's technically possible, cost-effective and cool in lifestyle, in the interest of the environment. Because it is the small decisions, made by millions, which will bring about the big change."
„Leipzig brings together the pacemakers of sustainability. They show patterns of living in a sustainable society and discuss what quality of life will mean in twenty years' time." explains Roland Stulz, Managing Director of Novatlantis - Sustainability Department at the ETH University, Zurich.
My Sustainable World is meant to spread the Green Change from Leipzig into the world, the conference delegates launch a joint initiative. My Sustainable World 2010 is the kick-off for sustainability processes which will lend a face to the economy of tomorrow. Leipzig trade Fair is a most obvious choice for communication and exchange since they are already living up to sustainability.
In early 2010 Leipziger Messe was Germany's first large trade fair company to receive the Green Globe Certificate, an internationally acknowledged standard of the tourism and event industry. „Leipzig Trade Fair has long committed itself to sustainability as its principle of responsible management activity - socially, ecologically, and economically. This is what we firmly believe in", emphasises Martin Buhl-Wagner, Managing Director of Leipziger Messe GmbH which has launched a sustainability process headlined "Growth in Balance" throughout the entire company. „Thus we achieve a new equilibrium between economic growth and responsibility for the environment and society. Seeing things this way, we are not only the venue where My Sustainable World is organised, but also a good example. Therefore, we support this event as one of their partners. A sustainable exhibition and convention centre is to host a marketplace for sustainability."
Leipzig is preparing for a busy Autumn
The Leipzig Trade Fair company is staging a firework of shows in September and is looking forward to welcoming exhibitors and visitors from all round the world. To start off with, the gift show Cadeaux will provide new ideas for giving by featuring the popular and lucrative areas of gifts and accessories for pets - with particular emphasis on cats and dogs. Midora presents its glittering wares, jewellery and watches, in a new light and offers dealers information on the buoyant trade with old gold which has come about as a result of the vastly increased price for new gold. Culinary delights spiced with entertainment and information on current trends are expecting the visitors of Le Gourmet who can enjoy the last rays of late summer sunshine whilst being inspired by the special feature of outdoor entertaining.
