IFEMA delays staging SIMO 2008 and announces details for 2009
IFEMA has agreed to delay the staging of the forty-eighth edition of SIMO, the International Data Processing, Multimedia and Communications Show, (this was due to take place from the 11th - 16th November 2008 at Feria de Madrid), until an appropriate commercial and promotional framework is created for the participating companies.
In this respect, IFEMA has been working with consultants, Gartner, over the last few months, with a view to defining a new fair model for the ICT industry. The decision that has been adopted takes into account the preparations that are already underway to stage a "new SIMO" in 2009, which will be an entirely renewed project, details of which IFEMA will be releasing over the next few weeks.
FIAA has best show yet
The International Coach and Bus Fair (FIAA) finished recently, confirming its key position among the international fairs specialising in passenger road transport and its role as a trade forum for the industry. The 2008 fair accounted for around 30% of direct participation, a figure that rose to 50% with regard to the participating companies.
The general evaluation made by the exhibitors was one of complete satisfaction. The National Association of Bus Bodywork Manufacturers (ASCABUS), a body that provided its complete support for FIAA, declared that its member companies achieved some excellent results during the fair.
Early visitor figures recorded at the fair indicated that more than 70% of the 9,000 visitors were professionals with a high decision-making power. In addition, the importance of the Spanish coach-building sector, combined with the fact that FIAA is a key point of reference for the European market, attracted foreign professionals to the event from 50 different countries, accounting for 15% of the total number of visitors.
The tenth FIAA will take place between 5th and 8th October 2010.
New fair from IFEMA - 360 Interior Home
360 Interior Home will take over from the Madrid International Furniture Exhibition, catering for the latest ideas in interior decoration, architecture and design as its key distinguishing features. The first edition will take place between the 27th and 31st March, 2009.
The objective is for the show to become one of the leading points of reference for interior decoration in Europe and, thus, to help boost the international drive of its exhibiting companies. A series of strategies is being adopted that seeks to endow the fair with a high level of visibility, including the organisation of presentations to members of the supply and demand sectors in leading markets of interest, and the implementation of wide-ranging national and international buyer programmes.
